“The strength and majesty of that old, oak tree in our Linwood, Kansas backyard, was a continuous presence in our lives.  The shape and texture of it was ever-changing as it shifted from season to season.  But it was in winter, that the real structure of it became evident.  Cynthia photographed this scene after an overnight snowfall of 8” to send to her colleagues in Napa Valley, CA.  How else would they understand her descriptions?”

“The little red shed is actually my first workshop.  I spent many hours there honing my skills as a woodworker.  We live in North Carolina, now, but as we look at this beautiful painting hanging on our walls, we can hear the silence of that snowfall and it brings back a thousand pleasant memories.  They will be with us, forever.  Many thanks for bringing it to life for us.”
